SAS Programmer Analyst Job, Ann Arbor, MI
A highly skilled research organization is seeking an experienced
SAS Programmer to join the data services team. This position
primary responsibility will be working with data from large
clinical or claims data warehouses to establish the process of
producing Standard Analysis Files for the project. The successful
candidate will be well versed in using SAS to work with complex and
large healthcare datasets and have demonstrated proficiency in
using SAS version 9 and above with data steps, macro, and Proc SQL.
Experience with other relational databases or data warehouse is a
strong plus.
The organization is a not-for-profit located in Ann Arbor, MI,
strives to improve clinical practices, patient outcomes, and
health-related public policy through research projects in the
United States and internationally.
• Develop and utilize advanced knowledge of project specific data
structure and organization, study protocol and research design;
analyze user requirements and translate to implementation
design
• Successfully, efficiently, and independently accomplish a wide
variety of analytical and programming requests, performing simple
quick-turnaround data request for funding sources and the general
public
• Implement code in at least one method area (object oriented
programming, relational database theory, and linear programming
methods).
• Assist in making technical decisions and implement logic plans
for projects of medium complexity for a technical audience using
pseudo code as necessary
• Develop and utilize leadership skills
• Take initiative in leading new data-related projects
• Work collaboratively with both internal and external research
personnel, including co-investigators of varying backgrounds and
expertise.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree with five (5) years progressively more
responsible programming experience demonstrated by SAS experience
using SAS Base including data step, Macro processing, PROC SQL; and
familiarity with SAS statistical procedures.
• Demonstrated ability to write code that is clearly readable and
efficient
• Demonstrated ability to analyze and translate user requirements
into implementation design
• Excellent organizational skills
• Excellent understanding of statistical concepts and fluency in
analytical approaches for health care outcomes
