table for you...Gordon Food Service is hiring an Financial Planning
and Analysis - Business Unit Manager. This candidate supports the
Annual Operating Plan and Long Range Plan, as well as month-end
close expense analysis for divisional operating departments, for a
business unit within the Gordon Food Service organization. Key
responsibilities include establishing best practices, setting
targets, managing the calendar, creation of planning tools,
guidelines, and assumptions and the coordination of activities for
the business unit related to the financial segments of the AOP/LRP.
Also included will be the monitoring of strategic projects and the
impact analysis to RONA and IRR measures.Responsibilities:
- Manage a team of financial analysts to understand and
communicate complex concepts and bring relevant business
insights
- Review monthly regional/divisional operating results through
Direct Operating Earnings, analyzing results to budget and
historical performance. Assist in forecasting process and provide
relevant analysis
- Suggest operational courses of action to division level and
senior level management to positively impact direct operating
earnings
- Develop and deploy standardized tools for use in Annual
Operating Plan(AOP), Forecasts, Long Range Plan (LRP) and
Operational management reporting
- Collaborate with Business Unit Controller, Regional Finance
leadership, Grand Rapids Financial Reporting, North American
Financial Planning and Analysis team and divisional financial
analysts on accounting related matters
- Respond to questions from key stakeholders about P&L trends
and deviations from AOP
- Manage expense results for Finance operating department
- Understand key operational drivers for the business
- Interface with senior management to explain monthly financial
results
- Ad hoc reporting and analysis and responsibilities
assigned
- Interviews, hires, trains, and retains staff. Conducts
performance monitoring of staff, initiating follow through with
disciplinary action and termination in consultation with Human
Resources when appropriate for the department. Mentors, motivates,
and develops staff and acts as a role model and resource to
them
- Performs other duties as assigned.Ideal candidate will have:
- Vocational - knowledge of systems, experience in process
improvement, project management, business process development,
change management
- Mathematical - arithmetic, statistics, time value of money,
fundamental Financial concepts such as NPV, IRR, ROI, DCF
- Reasoning - comparing, innovating, analyzing, coordinating,
deduction, drawing inferences
- Communication - reading (standard and technical), writing
(business), speaking (basic, conversational, public speaking),
conciseness
- Human Relations - motivating, teamwork, coaching, staff
retention and development, training, teaching, interactive, builds
positive relationships over the phone and email
- Self Management - self direction, prioritization, manage
fluctuations in workload against overall priorities, comfortable
with ambiguity, self motivated
- Knowledge of spreadsheet, word processing, presentation,
e-mail, reporting systems
- Familiarity with ERP's and G/L system, with SAP software
experience preferredExperience:
- Bachelor's Degree required Finance, Accounting, Economics or
related
- More than 7 years of progressive Corporate Finance or Corporate
FP&A experience or related background preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of formal leadership experience with an
